Yahoo! are preparing a complete new look for Yahoo! Mail and, of course, new features which would increase the ease of use and provide connections to new services.
A stunning new look with tabbed interface, a slightly different folder organization, integrated message search and Yahoo! Search are the main features of Yahoo! Mail Beta. Another improvement is the addition of RSS feeds and the redesigned composer. You can now easily move messages from one folder to another using the newly integrated drag-and-drop feature. The right-click menu has been introduced, offering you options to print, reply, select, mark, delete or report messages as spam.
We may also notice the fact that the “Bulk” folder has been renamed to “Spam” the “Addresses” folder has been changed into “Contacts”, the “Calendar” and “Notepad” are no longer buttons; they have been moved in the folder tree. The two latter features open now in new browser while the “Contacts” section is displayed in a new tab.
Yahoo! Mail provides a link to a brand new section: Yahoo! Mail for mobile: it allows you to compose, receive and manage your inbox using your mobile phone, but, so far, only seven wireless carriers are available worldwide.
There are also a few drawbacks, such as lack of support for Opera Browser, as Yahoo! Mail Beta supports only IE 5.5 and higher (for Windows), Firefox 1.0, Mozilla Suite 1.7, Netscape 7.2, still uses the old calendar and notepad.
In all, it is obvious that the pluses overcome the drawback by far, so we might say that we are anxiously looking forward to the final release. Aren’t you?
