A new release of the free IBM OmniFind Yahoo! Edition search software promises to help enterprises search better both inside and across the Web.
The software can search websites and local or remote file systems up to 500,000 documents per search. It uses Web search services powered by Yahoo! and is available without charge.
The new version can separate content into different searchable document collections. It also features an improved administration console that simplifies set-up and management and enhanced search support based on the latest Lucene indexing library.
“Last year, IBM and Yahoo! came together to change the rules of enterprise search, defining a new market standard for search as a core capability that should be ubiquitous and free,” said Joff Redfern, senior director of product management, Yahoo! Search Distribution. “We’re committed to helping enterprises — both large and small — get more value out of their information quickly and inexpensively, and providing them with an on-ramp to leveraging the power of all their information.”
Localized language support for IBM OmniFind Yahoo! Edition is available in Brazilian Portuguese, simplified Chinese, traditional Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Dutch, Hungarian, Polish, Portuguese and Swedish.
