Yahoo released its Desktop Search software, a project started this year in January. The application puts Yahoo’s search power on your desktop.

Now you can easily search your files, e-mails and messages instantly preview them. The technology behind Yahoo Search is licensed from X1. The only difference between this application and those from Google or Microsoft is that Yahoo’s is not a plug-in or an ad-on for other software it is a full search application.

As a new feature, Yahoo introduced LiveWords, which facilitates searching online on any topic, word, expression found on the local machine.
