Worm attacks on IM and P2P are increasing significantly

IM and P2P networks are attacked like never before. But not only the attacks increased, they became smarter.

A recent statistic shows that the attacks on the IM and P2P networks have grown significantly. The code writters are coming up with clever solutions to make the users to click on links to their malicious code. The number of attacks is averaged at more than one per day.

Microsoft’s IM network is the most desired target. 62% of the attacks are directed to it. America Online’s system is second on the list, with 31% and only 7% of the reported threats went after Yahoo Messenger.

Every IM user is advised to be careful when receives a link through the chat program. It is not recommended to click on links from unknown persons.

The new worms that are spread over the IM networks can easily pass from one network to another.
