Yesterday NEC on the Hong Kong market launched the world’s thinnest cell phone. The new NEC e949 combines latest technology with great design.
The little clamshell uses a proprietary technology developed by NEC. It is equipped with a mega-pixel camera, it has 47.9mm (width) X 101.5mm (height) X 11.9mm (depth) when is folded and weights 96 grams. The phone is full of features like PictBridge, MP3, Java and Bluetooth, supports GSM/GPRS mobile-internet, and has a 1.9 inch 65,000 color display. The sub-screen with an organic light emitting display is convenient for scrolling text messages.

The name of this product will differ by country and operator.
In 2004 NEC introduced the first smallest phone in the world also on the Chinese market followed by a handwriting-enabled phone and TV tuner-embedded and whole touch panel display card-shaped phones.


On the other hand, Nokia introduced the 2652 model aiming consumers from the emerging markets. Based on the 2650 model, which was a big success, this model brings a new design with dark gray and pearl white key mats for consumers to choose from. The price will be around 100 EUR, and will be available in Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Greater China region.
