Google announced a partnership with NASA. They want to collaborate with the agency on research projects. Both Google and NASA want to bring a universe of information to people around the world.
Many people wonder what advantages will have Google from this business. It is well known that technology companies and government agencies had strong relationship in the past but this doesn’t explain why Google, a search and advertising company, wants to join forces with NASA.
NASA has been exploring ways to extend the Internet out into space and maybe this could be the answer to the Google’s interest. Even-tough the program is in its early stages, this seems to be a good opportunity for Google to become an important part of the program in the future.
“Our planned partnership presents an enormous range of potential benefits to the space program,” NASA Ames Center Director G. Scott Hubbard said in a statement. “While our joint efforts will benefit both organizations, the real winner will be the American public.”
The two parts want to collaborate on data management, distributed computing, bio-info-nano convergence, and entrepreneurial space industry issues.
