Dell just launched two new goodies from the XPS series. A desktop named XPS 700 and a “mobile PC” named XPS M2010.
M2010 is a 20-inch widescreen entertainment PC, as Dell says. First introduced by Michael Dell as a mobile concept at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show, the XPS M2010 is a new breed of technology for portable entertainment or productivity.
M2010 has a 20-inch HD widescreen monitor, is equipped with an 8.1 speaker system and has a detachable, full-sized Bluetooth wireless keyboard. For ease, you can use a gyroscope-enabled remote. More, M2010 has a slot-load DVD drive and a webcam for those that use the internet a lot. Instead of arrow keys, Dell implemented a integrated touchpad.
Thanks to its design, M2010 can be folded and carried, but the 18 pounds will make you reconsider.
Powered by a Core Duo T400, 2500 and 2600, with up to 4GB dual channel DDR2 memory, with a ATI Radeon Mobility X1800 with 256MB and up to 240GB HDD, M2010 is a real computer. You also have an optional RAID 0-1 and an 8x DVD-RW unit. For I/O ports you get a Firewire, 4 USB, a ExpressCard Slot, Video: Digital Video Interface (DVI), S-Video: 7-pin mini-DIN connector, Component Video, S/PDIF Digital & Analog 7.1/5.1 Audio out and also a 13-in-2 removable memory card reader.
The price starts at $4000.
XPS 700 is Dell’s latest in gaming design and performance.
The new system supports NVIDIA Quad-SLI graphics, AGEIA PhysX physics accelerators and the latest Intel dual-core processors for an intensely realistic experience. The aluminum chassis, inspired by jet engine and muscle car designs, includes features such as customizable lighting to make it easy for gamers to connect devices or play in the dark. For the first time, do-it-yourself customers can purchase a kit including only the XPS 700 chassis, motherboard, memory and processor. They can install their own components and software for a truly personalized gaming experience.
For processors you can choose from a Pentium 4 at 3.8GHz, a Core Duo at 3.6GHz or a Dual-Core Extreme Edition 965 at 3.73GHz. For Chipset, Dell chose an NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP. XPS 700 can be equipped with up to 4GB Dual-Channel DDR memory and sounds wonderful with a Sound Blaster X-FiTM XtremeMusic with Dolby 5. The videocards are plenty to choose from, ranging from a 256MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GS to a 512MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GTX or a NVIDIA’s next Generation 7 series graphics, QUAD SLI Technology, Dual (Where available). XPS 700 has also a AGEIA® PhysX® physics accelerator making gaming more pleasant.
The price starts at $2210.

There is a problem at Dell with the XPS 700. It seems that the nVidia nForce 590 chipset, intel version, that is supposed to be in the XPS 700 is not ready yet. So Dell has apparently not shipped “any” XPS 700’s yet. There are orders dating back to May 30th that are still in “pre-production” status.
