The flood of porn stopped…

This week, the service from Google named Base turned into a “virtual red-light district”.

As we can read from the first page which says “Google Base is a place where you can easily submit all types of online and offline content that we’ll host and make searchable online. You can describe any item you post with attributes, which will help people find it when they search Google Base. In fact, based on the relevance of your items, they may also be included in the main Google search index and other Google products like Froogle, Google Base and Google Local.” is quite simple what can be done with this new service from Google.

Unfortunately, after it’s launching which happened last week, the service became a virtual “red-light district”, even-tough the company used it’s SafeSearch technology to filter the content. In conlusion a major quantity of pornographic material leaked into Google Base.

“Yesterday evening, we became aware of a problem with the Google Base SafeSearch feature and we acted quickly to resolve the issue,” Google spokesman Nate Tyler said

“Holy crap, there is a lot of porn at Google Base!” Nathan Weinberg wrote in his Inside Google blog. “Looks like, just like Google Images, Google Base could become a huge source of porn, and eventually a place where porn will be sold. I even noticed some movie reviews.”
