Debate Regarding MIT’s $100 Laptop Project
Published On 17th March 2006 @ 10:28 In Business | No Comments
Designed for children in developing nations, the project has raised a lot of questions whether its making is possible or not or if it could reach to be useful or not.
After presenting the ultramobile computer, which costs between $599 and $999, Bill Gates started criticizing MIT’s $100 laptop project. Stating that in the end the project is doomed to fail and that the product cannot fulfill all the necessary requirements, Gates makes his opposition to the idea as clear as possible. And yet, so far, there has been no response from the project’s officials.
Could it be that Microsoft feels uncomfortable with the fact that it was not their idea? As rival giant Google has already made it public its support for this project, could this turn into another battle in the giant’s war?
Whatever the outcome will turn out to be, the companies involved into this project should not forget in the end their ultimate goal: benefit for Third World children.
