Probably you don’t know much about Project Higgins. It’s an open-source project, which come as a competition for InfoCard project from IBM. The last one is similar to the Passport, the thing that allowed you to put all your information in one place and every time you needed to fill something, the Passport did the jobfor you. Of course that it wasn’t a big success, but it did his job.

Microsoft had presented InfoCard in May 18, 2005, and last month, Bill Gates demonstrated how it works. It is designed for Windows Vista, but it will be available also for Windows XP.

The problem is that Higgins is still in a project stage, so it’s a bit unclear why both companies are supporting it in this phase.

The reason is simple. Both IBM and Microsoft will be able to benefit from it. They all want to control this market, so the one that succeeds, will be a happy one. Almost $4 will be gained by the one who has it.

There is one positive thing also. Different companies had chose different protocols, and it would be better to have only one, no? Well, Higgins will be able to bind all together in only one, so the company that controls Higgins will be able to make all the customers happy.

There’s no real available code, no rules, no nothing. Just an idea. This is the time when you can impose yourself to get it closer to you. To get Higgins work the way you want it.
