News sites, blogs, personal web sites, forums … all has to be registered with government information offices. This registration method was imposed first time for non profit activities like personal web pages or blogs, but now it has extended to all the activities on the web.
The official Xinhua news agency reported: “The state bans the spreading of any news with content that is against national security and public interest”.
In China there is a special organization which monitors all the internet activity and remove all the topics that criticize the government.
The Chinese university on-line groups have been restricted to students also. They have to register using their real names. This was a place were they could write their views, opinions, and beliefs.
This situation in China, made other countries to express their opinion and an example is Taiwan who has expelled journalists from two Chinese news agencies and won’t consider letting them return until China lifts a ban on the Web sites of two major newspapers from the island, as an official reported.
Also, access to international web sites is many times blocked.
