Mobile companies in court

Published On 5th October 2005 @ 11:06 In Breaking News, Business | No Comments

Kansas City. Vonage is U.S. largest Internet-based telephone service with 1 million subscriptions for last month and Voiceglo offers voice calls services between computers to regular telephones.
Sprint is accusing these companies for infringing its patents on VoIP technology. Both companies offer services using the VoIP protocol.

Sprint stated through its spokesman, Debra Peterson, that it tried to reach an agreement for more than a year with both companies over the patents.

Vonage and Voiceglo declared that they haven’t seen the lawsuit yet and they can’t explain why Sprint filed these accusations.
“I suppose Sprint’s position is they must own VoIP and therefore anyone providing it must be violating their patent” - said Voiceglo’s president Ed Cespedes.

With this lawsuit Sprint wants to obtain some prohibitions as well as unspecified damages.
