It seems that Blu-Ray is having another player joining the team while HD-DVD remains kind of lonely.
After Samsung released the first Blu-Ray player to the public, now Plextor announced its intention to manufacture Blu-Ray drives.
I guess that a company like Plextor doesn’t need any presentation. One of the best CD-ROM manufacturers they slowly lost that place but who knows what they are preparing and we will see the same performance in their BR players.
Named PX-B900A, Plextor’s drive will be capable of writing to single-sided (25GB) and dual-sided (50GB) media at a speed of 2x.
The PX-B900A will also feature reading and writing of DVD±R at 8x, DVD±R DL at 4x and DVD-RAM media at 5x.
The price wasn’t released but since LG will sell its BR drive at $1000 its almost sure that Plextor will use the same price for PX-B900A.
