According to market research firm IDC, the PDA sales are down by 8.8% this year’s third quarter compared with the second quarter. And comparing with the last years sales, the figures show a fall of 16.9%.
The manufactures have faith in their devices and continue to bring new models equipped with new features like wireless connectivity for example.
“The combination of tremendous competition from converged mobile devices with waning consumer demand for handhelds is forcing manufacturers to search for new or improved solutions that leverage existing hardware and software capabilities,” wrote Ramon Llamas, research analyst at IDC.
the researcher is skeptical about the new features added to the devices and doesn’t think that they will boost sales significantly but it’s a good start. “Finding and expanding more solutions to modern mobile consumers and enterprises have become imperatives for the handheld market to drive growth”.
Palm continues to be the leader of the market despite its decline in sales of 22.8% year-over-year.
