Now with the upcoming release of Microsoft Vista, and the Internet Explorer redesigned, it’s time for Outlook Express, the free email client integrated in Microsoft Windows to get a new look. Named Windows Live Mail Desktop, it is now in beta testing stage.
What is new in Windows Mail? Integrated spam and phishing filter, community features for Microsoft newsgroups and built-in spell checking. The client has also been linked up with Vista’s contact database and search functionality.
Also, they want to integrate the new trends like RSS and blogging into their application, since Outlook Express was released in 2001, and new things happened meanwhile.
With all those Windows Live services, Windows Live Mail Desktop will serve as a connector for several services. It won’t need any configuration and Live Messenger will be a part of it.
As for the photos, there will be a features for them. You can upload your pictures from the digital camera and put them to your MSN, while resizing them for e-mails.
I was telling you about the RSS. Well, Windows Live Mail will be able to read RSS, organize them to folders, preview them. You can also blog them using “Blog It feature.
“Blogging and RSS looks like they’re here to stay and phishing is more dangerous than ever. Now is the time to add life back into my favorite free email client and we’re injecting a large dose of adrenaline to kick things back up,” says Live Mail Desktop developer Lei Gong.
The other small things that the client will benefit are an interface redesigned, emoticons, inline spell checking.
