OCZ Technology Group released the first DDR2 modules designed to make use of the recently introduced OCZ XTC heatspreader design. The Gold series modules will come in PC2-4200 and PC2-5400 configurations ranging from 512MB modules to 2GB dual channel optimized kits.

The Gamer eXtreme XTC DDR2 series features the innovative XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) Heatspreaders. The unique design used in the XTC heatspreaders optimizes the thermal management of memory modules by promoting greater airflow by means of micro-convection throughout what is usually the dead air space inside conventional heatspreader designs. In this manner, build-up of heat is avoided and thermal dissipation of the memory components is offloaded more efficiently through the honeycomb design. At the same time, mechanical stability is maintained.

Both PC2-4200 and PC2-5400 GX XTC modules offer superior stability and performance for the modern Intel gaming platform. Operating at 4-4-4 and 5-5-5 timings, these DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 solutions offer lower latencies than standard DDR2 modules. DDR2 XTC will be offered in 2GB dual channel kits for the ultimate memory upgrade for the latest graphic-intensive PC games.
