Hun Sen, Cambodian Prime Minister has banned 3G mobile phones in the Southeast Asian country.
He has responded to a complaint from his wife and her friends about receiving pornography on their 3G mobiles.
According to Reuter, Hun Sen stated: “I have written to the Minister of Telecommunications to delay the use of certain mobile phones. We can wait 10 more years until we have managed to improve morality in society.” His announce was made to an assembly of Buddhist monks in Phnom Penh.
The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, is a former Khmer Rouge soldier who has been in charge for the past 20 years. He leads a country devastated by civil war, with a rampant corruption, where sexual violence and abuse are common. Cambodia’s first 3G mobile network opened for business earlier this year, but few people can afford the phones.
The progress stops here, and the prime minister acts in his manner, as a Khmer Rouge fighter. It is easier and more confortable to ban the technology. Anyway, ten years is a short period of time. We wish Hun Sen a successful moral reform!
