Once again Vista refuses to implement or to drop features and supports. It’s 1394b to fall from the list.

For those that don’t have a clue what is 1394b and what is good for, here it is. 1394b technology builds on the strengths of 1394a and adds critical new capabilities, notably; added bandwidth – to 800 Megabits/second all the way, eventually, to 3.2 Gigabits/second. It incorporates networking capabilities over distances of 100 meters over CAT-5 and plastic optical fiber. It also improves overall network efficiency.

1394b is a popular standard for external hard-drives and is featured on most new digital camcorders

This sounds like a good technology but Microsoft said that no sir, we don’t use it, why should you. They threw away WinFS, Monad, the support for EFI. And now 1394b.

They sure transformed anything else or renamed them to come together, but it’s about the same XP with another look. Aero look.

And considered that it is rumored that Vista will come only in second quarter 2007, they still have time to dump other things. Way to go Microsoft.
