Samsung presented at CommunicAsia 2006 their new line-up of slim mobiles. Named “Ultra Edition”, it is their new vision.
They presented 3 phones from this new brand. Ranging from 6.9 mm thin to 12.9 mm thin, these new phones will be perfect for each user. The thinnest is Ultra Edition 6.9 (X820), then comes Ultra Edition 12.9 (D900), the world’s slimmest slider with a depth of only 12.9mm and a picture-perfect 3 megapixel camera. Ultra Edition 9.9 (D830) is a clamshell handset that is 9.9 mm thin.

With its exceptional sleek and ultra slim design, Samsung’s mobile will effortlessly integrate into the user’s everyday life, connecting them to the rest of the world.”
The SPH-N2000, released in 2001, marked Samsung’s first foray into slim mobiles with advanced features. This was the company’s first well-received 9.8mm mobile phone. This was their big step in creating thin, slick mobiles.
Samsung’s groundbreaking Ultra Edition 6.9 (X820) expresses Samsung’s commitment to create the slimmest and lightest product in the market today. Weighing a mere 66 grams and measuring a slim 6.9mm depth, the lightweight Ultra Edition 6.9 is today’s definitive tool to help users stay connected, take pictures with the 2 megapixel camera, or enjoy their favorite tunes with the music player. It is built using the Smart Surface Mounting Technology (SSMT) and the material is a fiberglass-infused plastic is used to increase extraordinary durability. Thanks to its 2.3″ display everything is easy to see. Did I mentioned the 80MB memory?
Going to Samsung’s Ultra Edition 9.9 (D830), it comes with a 2 Megapixel Camera and with the 2.3” 240×320 262K Color TFT you can enjoy the beautiful colors it has. You can navigate effortlessly through functions, thanks to its enhanced user interface with uMenu and uSearch features. D80 has also 80MB memory and weights 85g.
The Ultra Edition 12.9 offers the latest in multimedia technology with premium slide-up design for business professionals. It’s equipped with a powerful 3.13 megapixel camera - leading the 3 megapixel camera phone trend in the global market this year. The display is only 2.1″ but it does its job. As the other two, it comes with 80MB memory and you can use also a microSD card. The weight its the same as 9.9 meaning it weights 85g.
I think I’ll pay Samsung a visit even if they didn’t release any prices for these beauties.
