Kodak has introduced a new document scanner and an upgrade to its Capture Software, both designed to meet the high production needs of paper-intensive environments.
The KODAK i1860 Scanner captures images at up to 200 pages per minute, making it the fastest production scanner offered by Kodak. It was designed for maximum productivity, for bureaus, insurance companies and financial institutions that handle volumes of transactions such as loan and mortgage applications. The scanner efficiently manages documentation with a wide variety of document sizes, colors, and weight.
The company has offered pre-launch demonstrations last month during the DMS tradeshow in Cologne, Germany. Vienna-based BISS, the largest service bureau in Austria, and Rottenburg-based Heydt-Verlags-GmbH, one of the largest service bureaus in Germany, were among the first to place orders immediately upon seeing the demo.
The new scanner features easy-to-use operation for high-production environments, and offers a 10-inch height adjustment, enabling operators to work standing or seated. The scanner’s footprint is the smallest in the industry, accommodating highly efficient workflow patterns. Color touch screen is easy to use and adjustable for your convenience. The KODAK i1860 Scanner is environmentally friendly: lead-free, Energy Star qualified, mercury-free illumination lamps.
The KODAK i1860 Scanner has a list price of $85,000, and will be shipped to customers beginning in December 2006.
In addition, Kodak has introduced the latest upgrade of its image capture software, to support the speed and features of its newest scanner lines for both desktop and production scanning. KODAK Capture Software, Version 6.10, adds MICR code support, augmenting current bar code and optical character recognition (OCR) indexing capabilities. Indexing via MICR code is a critical function of the sorting of checks, making the newest version of Kodak’s capture software even more efficient in financial environments.
