Yahoo is being accused of stealing trade secrets, by hiring 13 engineers from Nuance Communications. Doesn’t this look like Microsoft vs. Google case?
Yahoo hired 13 engineers specialized in interactive speech technology. They left Nuance Communications, a company that makes the technology behind many airlines’ automated voice interactive flight information systems.
The company fired a lawsuit against Yahoo, accusing the company from Santa Clara of unfair competition. A court from California barred the engineers, blocking them from doing work on speech technology at Yahoo. Nuance is also accusing it’s former Vice President of Research and Development, Larry Heck, of helping Yahoo hiring the engineers.
Yahoo declared that the accusations have no support and they will defend themselves seriously in court.
Microsoft also sued Google this year for hiring Kai-Fu Lee a former key executive from Microsoft. After the court restricted Lee’s activities, Microsoft offered to settle the case.
