The popular video hosting service from Google has been launched in the European continent.
As links for short videos circulate more and more over IMs and email, different video hosting services have emerged. Two of the most popular are YouTube and Google Video. As part of the efforts that Google makes in order to occupy a bigger share of this domain, it launched localized version of Google video: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK. With this move, Google tries to catch the phenomenal success of YouTube.
The new Google Video includes features like searching for video content from around the world, ease of posting content videos to blogs and sites, rating content and leaving comments.
“By launching Google Video in these new markets we will enable more people in more countries to search for, upload and share video content in more languages,” said Google’s European Director of Partnerships, Joanna Shields. “We’re excited to work with our content providers and advertisers around the world to help them use Google Video to reach a wider global audience”.
A new competitor is rising on the horizon as Yahoo! also announced recently that it upgraded its own Video service in order for it to be more competitive with the already consecrated services.
