Intel wants to offer easy access to film, music, games and any other type of entertainment on its new PCs with the ViiV technology.
In order to make this possible, Intel is now working with film distributors, music publishers, game developers and other entertainment companies to integrate their offerings into an upcoming line of upscale entertainment PCs branded with the Santa Clara, Calif.-based chip giant’s ViiV technology, according to CNet.
Users will have links on their desktop to digital content from Canal Plus and British Sky Broadcasting is what Kevin Corbett, vice president and general manager of the Content Services Group in Intel’s Digital Home Group said in an interview.
The cost for these services will vary across the globe but Intel assured that every ViiV PC will have at least a link for a movie service, one for music, for games and photo services.
“In most cases, the services will be available on most PCs, but it is not for the feint of heart,” Corbett said. “The PC can do many things, but because it is so flexible it can be difficult for consumers.”
The ViiV PCs from Intel are scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of the next year.
