We told you two weeks ago about the Minessota’s law with fines for the minors who buy mature and adult games.
But now ESA (Entertainment Software Association) announced its intention to sued the state of Minessota and is filled the suit yesterday afternoon.
“The bill’s tortured effort to end run the First Amendment by punishing kids directly fails under the Constitution because children have rights under the First Amendment, like all other citizens,” ESA president Doug Lowenstein said in a statement.
“The State is attempting to impose liability on children because they know that courts have consistently held that they cannot penalize retailers. We believe that the courts will agree that fining children violates the First Amendment as well.”
More, Lowenstein asked the state representatives how they will collect the money from the minors breaking the proposed law. Sandra Pappas, the bill’s author said that the law was meant more as a method to scare the children wanting to buy this kind of games and to educate the parents.
But this law will also be turnedover because the First Amendment does not allow children to be fined.
And this is how the taxpayers moneys are spent on foolish things for fame or because of stupidity. But who cares, spend some more money.
