If you have valuable or secret information burned on a CD or DVD and you want to throw or dispose them without the risk of someone getting that data, Plextor has good news for you.
You may crack the disc, you may shred it to pieces to be sure that no one reads it but there is another way to dispose of that optical media while staying safe of the problems.
In the near future, Plextor will launch PlexEraser, a drive that will erase all your data for good. No previous data written will appear which makes it perfect for the job.
Generally, a DVDRW or CDRW can be erased with a regular $40-$60 drive but for those with pressed discs or write-once media, the PlexEraser can be used to delete data on the disc and destroy the media forever in 6 minutes. A little too much if the police is knocking at your door or you are in a hurry and you want to destroy the data.
No word about the price or availability about the PlexEraser but there is rumored that it will appear and we have a picture too.
