One could easily respond “No” to this question if having a Yahoo! e-mail account.

According to a small security firm in Iowa, Yahoo! has some problems when it comes to the email service provided. When testing 16 mail servers it turned out that they were unable to take in 45 percent of the incoming emails. The number of the available servers turned out to fluctuate form four to twelve.

What does this actually mean? Well, eventually the emails do go through but with delay, it ends up taking longer time than expected to reach its destination, getting to hours or even days. There is also the possibility of bouncing back the email entirely.

That is definitely not some good piece of news for the ones using Yahoo! as the Web mail provider. The company blames the continuous increasing spam attacks which hits the e-mail service at high rates. Even if the company is constantly trying to come up with new technologies to fight back the malicious attacks, it looks like for now, they haven’t come up with a proper solution to deal with all the extra mail.

Due to all the complaints received from different e-mail administrators from different businesses, Dymeta ran some tests involving Yahoo! servers. The outcome? It got a reply only 55 percent of the time.
