China Mobile, the largest mobile phone operator in China, announced it added 7.246 million customers in September 2008.

The number of new users in last month was only 7.246 million, far away from February’s record, 7.971 million.

At the end of the month, China Mobile had 436.115 million subscribers, from 428.869 million at the end of August, and 369.339 million at the end of 2007. The cumulative net addition of subscribers for 2008 is 66.776 million.

The total number of mobile subscribers in China has gone up significantly and it reached 616.02 million subscribers by the end of August, twice the population of the USA. That number is only 45.6% of the whole population which means more and more subscribers will join Chinese carriers looking for mobile services.
