AOpen and Mitsubishi Announce Voice Control Car PC

AOpen and Mitsubishi Motors announce the multimedia Car PC, a combination of SFF (small from factor) PC and vehicle.

The Car PC and digital signage are primary targets of AOpen in 2007. “AOpen Car PC will sell on United States and China markets and cooperate with motor companies such as long distant traveler bus in 2007”according to AOpen vice precedent Vincent Cho. By the advance of MoDT (Mobile on Desktop) technology, AOpen adapts mobile processor to decrease the total power consumption to 65watts and overcomes the vibration issues when driving, realized the multimedia Car PC.

The Mitsubishi Motor Car PC is the first system that integrates multimedia personal PC and electronic system of car. The Car PC built-in voice control system allows driver to operate safer while driving. It can decrease the risk of accident when operates the PC. With its GPS receiver the driver gains the shortest path by the name of place, road, district and target input. It can calculate the distance and oil usage at the same time.

To make driver and passengers feel easy and safety, it can navigate via voice control, receive e-mail, dial Internet phone, and share data at speed 100Km per hour. Car PC also integrates multimedia entertainment functions include play DVD/VCD/HDD movies, Karaoke, jokes, and music. Via digital TV receiver, passangers can watch digital TV and switch channel by voice control.

Car PC is a full PC system, all applications are able to install to it. The keyboard, mouse, digital screen, and Windows XP operation system are bundle with Car PC allowing to access e-mail and document processing in car. Via 3G mobile Internet connection, Internet phone is available.

When the car is powered on, the system will activate automatically; when car is powered off, the system shuts down with it.

Car-PC comes with Intel socket 479 Celeron M360, Intel 915 chipset with Intel GMA900 on board that supports DirectX 9 and OpenGL. It features 512MB DDR2 400/533MHz memory, a 2.5” PATA 40GB HDD, IEEE 1394 x1, USB 2.0 x1 in front, and 10/100/1000 Mb Base-T LAN.
