
AMD just released their estimated sales for second quarter.
By doing this, AMD announced that the sales for the second quarter that ended July 2 are expected to be approximately $1.215 billion. This means that AMD managed a 52% increase compared to the second quarter of 2005 but with 9% less then the first quarter of 2006.
AMD is having a hard time now that Intel dropped the prices at their CPU and has entered a price war with AMD. Intel is releasing new processors while AMD will release a new Opteron CPU on August.
More, AMD is battling Intel in court for their anti-trust trial. Their latest episode involved Media Saturn Holding and their no-AMD deal with Intel.
AMD’s luck was Dell’s move on starting using Opteron CPU on their servers.
The next quarter will be a hard one for both companies as each will try to win the war. All this will surely are making the consumers happy as they can buy better and cheaper CPUs now.
