A New Step for W-CDMA in Indonesia

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. had won the WCDMA contract of Indonesia’s mobile operator Natrindo Telepon Selular (NTS).

Huawei is selected as NTS’ preferred and sole vendor to construct NTS’ unified 3G/2G softswitch core networks, intelligent service platforms and IP backbone networks in Indonesia. Huawei’s Node B system will cover the whole Indonesia, except Djakarta. In Djakarta and surrounding areas, NTS has choosen Ericsson to build, operate and manage the 3G/WCDMA network.

Selecting Huawei as our 3G network full service supplier is NTS’ significant step to bring the fastest and highest quality 3G multimedia communications to Indonesian customers,” said Mr. Kusnadi Sukarja, CEO of NTS.

Three days ago, Indonesian operator Hutchison Telecom Indonesia has contracted with Siemens to build, implement, operate and maintain its GSM/W-CDMA network in Indonesia. Hutchison Telecom Indonesia plans to offer a range wireless communications services in Indonesia over a GSM network and W-CDMA infrastructure overlays in key cities.
